The African Print series for the Intermediate Phase has been specifically developed with Intermediate Phase English First Additional Language learners in mind. The readers are graded according to the level of difficulty. The readers for the Intermediate Phase expose learners to all literary genres, and include poetry, prose and plays, while emphasis is also placed on the development of visual literacy skills through comic strips and cartoons. The subject matter of the readers is varied and are largely based on traditional African and Southern African myths and legends that are presented in a way that capture the imagination of the learner and introduce learners to a variety of cultures and traditions. Similarly, healthy values and attitudes are also emphasised through the themes dealt with in this series.
Each reader contains:
- Full colour illustrations that bring the content to life
- Clearly legible text suitable to the reading level of the learner
- A variety of exciting, interactive activities that allow learners to engage with the content while practising their reading skills.
